I come from a household of educators: my dad has taught English for 30 years and my mom has held many titles ranging from guidance counselor to LSAT exam editor to IEP advocate. When I say school has been my life up to this point, I really mean that. It was not until just this year that I finally exited academia when I made the decision to drop out of graduate school. And even still, education rules much of what I think about given my parents’ occupations, my numerous friends enrolled in PhD or MD programs, and because my hometown school district was the subject of a recently released docuseries (Bucks County, USA on PBS- check it out). Not to mention that I have also interviewed with and received offers from schools and tutoring boutiques in New York during my extended job search.
My time as a student of math and computer science in Vermont provided me with a technically rigorous foundation that, coupled with my interest and seemingly inescapable immersion in the world of education, affords me a unique perspective on a topic that I would like to pursue in the coming decades: AI in education. How I will approach and tackle this topic is as yet unclear, but this issue is not likely to ever go away, and I am in a position to research it and understand it better than most.
I have promised many times to finally reboot this website after several years of oscillating between posting and inactivity, so I am once again setting the stage for the content that my many fans can come to expect when visiting. Get ready for a lot of ranting, idea dumping, and some researched pieces on AI governance as it pertains to education. Personal blog posts, crossword puzzles, photos from my adventures, and more (?) are also to come.
